Kettle Creek 10-29 thru 11-1-2023

10/30—11/2/23
This is just how I like to see the campground...nobody home (except me and a turkey hunter).
Almost vacant. The blue tarp is the turkey hunter.
This was his setup. Got into the 20's overnight but he toughed it out!
Remaining part of the campground. No neighbors. Even the park office appeared to be closed for the season.
My site was really close to the showers and rest rooms.
Started at the bridge in the Project. All I got this trip were rainbows but they were healthy and gave a good fight.
Seemed like the Commission dumped a bunch of stockers right by the bridge. Could have stayed here for three days and harassed these fish but I wanted to explore…
Looking upstream from the bridge. Did see a rise or two and even caught one and missed two more on dries.
Fished below the bridge. Caught this one on the first cast.
Got this one in the same spot on the second cast. Both fish were caught in the riffle on the following picture.
This spot always seems to hold fish. Today was no exception.
Really didn't go any further downstream that the tree on the left side of the stream. So many spots and so little time.
Got this one...the only brown on the entire trip and I caught it in the hole in the next pic. Also lost a grand daddy in the same hole
I bet this hole is home to more than two fish but I only managed to land one more from this spot. The fish in the following picture also came from this hole.
Yeah, another rainbow.
Water was a little low but certainly fishable. This is the level I usually like to fish it in the spring during a hatch.
Lost a couple in this run. I had no problem hooking but had a lot of issues trying to land fish.
Cold Front came through and what a front it was. Left my boots in the truck overnight only to find them cover in ice the following morning.
There were also snow showers in the area. Didn't amount to anything but just a reminder of the coming winter.
Missed a few fish in this spot. Nice deep run under the roots. Did manage to land the brown in the following picture.
